How Gear Works

Gear is the visual shortcut to learning more about the people you’re considering for stakes. Gear is a title and a small image displayed in the top right corner of any post a member makes. Not all members have gear.

As a member of Staking.PartTimePoker.com you need to be aware of the various types of Gear to avoid. Gear is assigned to members who disregard or break the Official Rules & Policies and having Gear makes it difficult to earn stakes. Below is information on the different types of gear, why you will be assigned gear, and the process for getting it removed (if there is one).

Meet the requirements for gear removal? Use the Appeals Forum.

If you appeal for removal of gear unsuccessfully, you may make another appeal 60 days after the closing of your first. Appealing for removal of the same gear before 60 days will result in a ban, length determined by an administrator, your second appeal better be an improvement over your first, obviously.

DNS Gear

DNS Gear

DNS stands for Do Not Stake. This is the most serious type of gear assigned to players. There are two types of DNS Gear:

  1. Do Not Stake* – includes a Ban on Staking, this is shipped when a player owes money to staker(s). The player will need to payback all owed funds before Staking privileges are restored.
  2. Do Not Stake – normal DNS is given to players who are deemed to be a risky investment and have had problems in the past. Once normal DNS is shipped it is usually permanent. Members with normal DNS can get downgraded to Former DNS gear if they prove they can be a productive member with no problem for at least 60 days.

DNS is shipped because:

  • The horse does not complete the stake and did not send a Staker their appropriate funds per the staking agreement. This includes a ban on Staking until all funds are paid back to the staker.
  • Horses who in any way disrespect their Stakers’ money. This includes things like doctoring Hand History files or intentional poor play.
  • Horses who do not follow bankroll requirements for a stake. If someone gives you set parameters to stay within during a stake, you must not break those parameters and play bigger than the requirements say.
  • DNS gear is permanent unless:

    1. The victim of DNS requests that DNS status be removed from the offender and a majority of Moderators agree / abstain
    2. The horse pays back quickly, and can prove it was a misunderstanding
    3. An Administrator agrees to remove it
    4. Unless it’s assigned incorrectly, DNS gear stays on for a minimum of 60 days at which point FDNS may be assigned if the player proves they are a good member with no further problems.

Members who have DNS removed will wear Former DNS permanently, except for rare circumstances. If the DNS was shipped because of a legitimate misunderstanding, DNS can be removed immediately. This is solely at the discretion of the Administrators.

All Members who are shipped DNS Gear have their Staking privileges automatically revoked, and are only allowed to give or receive stakes once the staker is paid back. Member who have DNS with a Staking Ban will have an Asterisk (*) next to their title and loose posting privileges in the General and Staking Discussion forums until the payback.

    Investigation Gear

    Investigation Gear

Account Under Investigation. This gear is shipped to members who have something fishy going on or are under suspicion for breaking the rules, being involved in scams or Multi-accounting. It includes a Staking Ban until the investigation can be concluded, at which point the member will be cleared and gear removed or the appropriate permanent gear is shipped.

    HOP Gear

    HOP Gear

HOP stands for Hooked On Phonics. HOP Gear is given to people who clearly aren’t reading or following the rules.

    HOP Gear is shipped to:

    1. Members who apply for private stakes meant for other people. Read all titles and descriptions, and if the stake is set for a single person, don’t apply, simple as that.
    2. Members who apply for stakes that they don’t qualify for. Suppose the staker asks that no one under 200 posts applies. If you have less than 200 posts and apply, you deserve HOP Gear.
    3. Members who apply for stakes after they have been assigned. It can be understood if you apply a couple minutes after, as you might not have seen it was given, but 5 minutes is the limit here. Even if you did apply within 5 minutes after, please apologize, and state that you didn’t know it was given out.
    4. Members who post unfounded abuse reports in the Report Abuse forum.

You may be given a warning for your first HOP offense. For your second offense you will be shipped HOP Gear. HOP Gear will be attached to you for for a minimum of 30 days. You may apply for removal of HOP Gear after 30 days; to do so start a thread in the Appeals Forum. Give examples of how you have become a productive Member by staking others and posting productively. A third offense results in a 7 day or perma-ban, no questions asked.

    Beggar Gear

    Beggar Gear

Quite simply, you are not allowed to beg for stakes. Beggar Gear is shipped to:

    1. Members who personally contact someone asking them for a stake, or requesting/demanding that you pick them. This is not allowed, so don’t do it.
    2. Members who post in any forum begging for a stake. To receive a stake you need to respond to a thread in Make A Deal, or buy an ad in Buy A Piece. Otherwise, you’re a beggar breaking the rules.

Just like HOP, you are given a warning for your first Begging offense. For your second offense you will be shipped Beggar Gear. Beggar Gear will be attached to you for for a minimum of 30 days. You may apply for removal of Beggar Gear after 30 days; to do so start a thread in the Appeals Forum. Give examples of how you have become a productive Member by staking others and posting productively. A third offense results in a 7 day or perma-ban, no questions asked.

    Bad Rail Gear

    Bad Rail Gear

Bad Rail Gear is given to horses who do not create a satisfactory Rail Thread in Neverbeg On the Rail. Be sure to understand what your staker wants you to track in your rail thread, and to satisfy (or exceed!) his expectations. Rail threads are a critical part of the staking system, and we’re not interested in members who don’t create good rail threads.

Again, you may be given a warning for your first Bad Rail offense. For your second offense you will be shipped Bad Rail Gear. Bad Rail Gear will be attached to you for for a minimum of 30 days. You may apply for removal of Bad Rail Gear after 30 days; to do so start a thread in the Appeals Forum. Give examples of how you have become a productive Member by staking others and posting productively. A third offense results in a 7 day or perma-ban, no questions asked.

    Former DNS Gear

    Former DNS

This gear is worn by members who at one point had DNS gear but did everything necessary for removal of that gear and have worked to restore their reputation in the community as a good and productive member.

If you think a user should be shipped gear, report the incident (and give a link to threads if possible) in the Report Abuse forum.
